Renting/Leasing a ski boat for the summer?
Is it possible to rent a ski boat from a company or private party just for the summer? We have a cottage on a medium size lake in Michigan, and our family wants to get a ski boat, and we do not want to buy a boat, we have only two more years with kids around and they really want a boat, so we thought what if we rented/leased for one or two of the summers, then we could have the experience and not be tied down with a boat that we would want to get rid of in a few years. We are wanting a real ski boat, and are wanting to keep it at our cottage, we don't feel the need to have a top of the line boat, but if that's what it takes it might work. So if this is possible how much do you think it would cost, and if this is just an implausible idea then let me know, thanks, DC
Short term leasing/ renting has become very popular on our lake, mostly with people who have fractional ownership (timeshare) properties, and are only on the lake for 2 or 3 weeks of the year. Most of these folks are condo dwellers, and have no place to keep a boat when not in use. That said, a seasonal rental may be a little pricey. As an example, the marina down the lake from me rents a Nautique 211 crossover (ski/wakeboard boat) for $2800 per week. So, for a 1 month rental, you could buy a pretty decent used boat!
