wahoo fishing boat
what are good lures for fishing fish off the coast of the san diego area?
im a new saltwater fisherman. im not very wealthy so i go out on my Friends boat.(its a sail boat) i went out a few days ago and i had a 2 lures recommended to me: krocodiles and cedar plugs. so i went out and for all day i only caught 1 mackerel off the cedar plug. we were trolling but i was not sure how it was supposed to follow ( as in skipping on the top or a little under the water) so i found that 4 knots was a good trolling speed. so i need to know what are some other good baits. for tuna,mahi mahi,wahoo,yellowtail,and maybe even mackerel. also, you must remember i am a complete amateur and have no idea what a rapala 3-x53 is. so please just give it a name and description plz. thank you.
My guess is that a bigger issue than the lures you are using is how you are fishing and where you are fishing. Presentation is huge... and obviously you have to be in an area that has lots of fish to have luck too. Do you have a fish finder?
If you are new to saltwater fishing and trolling I would recommend going on a charter boat and paying really close attention to everything they do. Ask a lot of questions.

Wahoo Fishing
So I tried deep sea fishing do I have bad luck or.....?
So I really need help. My Fiance is a big fisherman has a boat and loves fishing. I have gone with him a dozen times and once caught a small snapper that is it. I have hooked dolphin wahoo even a small sailfish but they always seem to come off the hook just for me. His other first time fishing friends have caught fish why can't I. Is there a technique I don't know. A gal smaller than me sowed me up and caught a nice dolphin. I'm in shape I can reel but they always unhook. Why?
Also I get sea sick what can I do for that and not get totally knocked out sleeping the whole trip. I have taken dramemine it doesn't really work for me. help please!!!
For seasickness:
This always works...take your dramamine the night before and drink as much water as you can hold the day before and the day of. Your urine should be almost clear. Seasickness is greatly influenced by the level of your hydration. If your urine is yellow, you are dehydrated (this is by U.S. Navy standard). The morning before you even get in the car to go fishing, take ginger tablets. Don't forget to drink water. Seasickness is 80% mental. The method mentioned above WILL work. It ALWAYS works. Remember that.
Hooking fish:
If you are not experienced, let someone who is experienced fight the fish for the first minute or so to be sure it's set. When fishing for blue-water fish like sails, marlin, dorado, hoo's...they should be hooking themselves. You typically fish for these by trolling. When you have a hook-up, don't jerk on the rod. Let the fish run and just keep tension on the line. Don't set the drag too tight or the hook could pull out.
That's the short answer.
