trailerable houseboats
How expensive are boats?
SCENARIO: Deandra wants to buy a boat because she has been to a boat show in Florida and she thought boats seemed cool, but she wants to know how much it costs to own a boat. How expensive are boats?
NOTE: Do not use "you" in the anwer because it's not dealing about me, it's dealing about Deandra, I hate seeing those "you"s in answers when it's dealing with different people scenarios. Thanks.
Well Pineapple, tell Deandra that buying a new small boat such as a bow-rider or runabout, is much like buying a new car. She can simply pick the size, make, and model that best fits her boating philosophy, and pocket book.
New ones on the low end scale (such as a Bayliner) can be purchased from a low of about $18,500 (or about $400.00 a month). Your better ones will cost about $26,000 ($550 a month) and your top of the line $36,000 (about $800 a month). All in the typical and popular open bow and runabout models...
Houseboats, Cabin Cruisers, Trawlers, Catamarans, etc. will of course be 2 to 10 (or more) times the price, and they require much-much more in the form of maintenance, docking & storage, insurance, etc. Usually on these larger (non-trailerable) boats, your monthly expenses will just about equal the monthly boat payment. So if someone is paying a $1,000 a month for a live aboard size catamaran, their monthly docking fees, storage, maintenance, insurance, etc. will come awful close to their monthly payment.
