In a recent issue of The Sporting News, Padres' GM Kevin Towers said that his team would be in good shape if they were within 5 games of 1st place at the All Star break.
San Diego is currently dead last in the NL West, 10 games behind the staggering Arizona Diamondbacks. Based upon what Towers has said is the Padres' season over or, given the sorry state of the NL West, can they hope for a Rockies-like finish to the '08 campaign?
