Can you help plan a road trip from Connecticut to Niagara Falls?
We're trying to go on a road trip from CT to Niagara Falls, the U.S. side.
What is there to do along the way?
What can we do there?
Is there a route we can take that has lots of stuff to do?
Where to stay when we get there?
Camp grounds, etc?

I've made the reverse trip several times. I live right near the Falls, and have traveled to Hamden, Conn a few times. Of gosh, what to do along the way. Hmmm. I would take the I-90, and I really can't think of that many things to do that are close. The thousand Islands are a few hours to the north.... Hershey PA is a few hours to the south.... You could stop in Rochester NY. You will reach Rochester about 60-90 minutes before you get to the Falls. There is the Strong Museum(which is geared toward younger children). Corning, NY is right off the I-90. I would recommend stopping there for a but. Corning is know for glass. There is a glass museum which was really cool, and you can even set up a thing where you can blow your own glass(you really don't get to do very much.... the expert does most of it for you- but it is still a neat experience).
Where to stay? I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for. If you are looking for a hotel, there is a Holiday Inn on Grand Island(a short drive to the falls) which is right on the Niagara River(and its haunted). The Seneca-Niagara Casino has a hotel, that is even closer to the Falls(never been there). As for a campground, there is a KOA(its small) on Grand Island(right next to Martin's Fantasy Island- themepark) and they are currently building a new campground, though I don't think its schuled to be open for a while. There is a campground right on Lake Ontario.... I always forget the name of it. 4 mile? 6 mile? Something.... Mile. I stayed there and it was pretty nice.
Things to do: Maid of the Mist, Cave of the winds, there is a whirlpool jetboat ride which looks awesome(I want to go on that), just chill out at the park.... not much to do in Niagara Falls. Honestly, the Niagara Falls region is a dump. Its amazing that one of the 7 wonders of the world is right there, and the area can be soo horrible. You canslo head to Buffalo for a bit. There is some cool architecture. Take a tour of the Darwin Martin House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright(very impressive). The Buffalo Zoo(not impressive lol). The Albright Knox Art Gallery- one of the top museums in the world for modern art.
