proline boats
what are some good tips on anchoring on an island (beach)?
have a lot of small islands near me and want to go camping on them...what are some good pointers you can give me, i don't want to get stuck, or even worse, my boat drift away...i have a 17' boat, deep v-hull type, outboard...to be more specific, its a 1988 proline 17 cc. no docks, just docking on the beach...
Most important, as you near the shore line, drop a kedge anchor off of the stern. After a short distance, cinch the kedge line to set it. Then continue as close to shore as you feel safe, and deploy an anchor off the bow on the beach.
This arrangement will allow you to pull in the stern line while paying out the bow line to place the boat away from safely away from shore to prevent grounding, then give you the ability to haul in the stern anchor to pull the boat further from shore when you are ready to leave.

proline Boat Detail buff Hull & topside
Can anyone recommend a QUIET fan heater please?
Our lovely little Russell Hobbes fan heater blew up a couple of days ago and we really need a replacement (got a Proline one today that claims to be quiet but sounds like it's about to take off!). It's just to provide top up heating on a boat (have a coal fire so the fan bit is really useful for circulating that heat too!).

We really need a fan heater to circulate the air (it helps with the condensation prevention) and it circulates heat from the coal fire too.
The Russell Hobbes one (that they don't seem to make anymore) was a 2000w fan heater that cost about £20 and was ideal til it blew up!!!
Forgot to say - Calor gas fires aren't allowed on boats due to the safety issues (the gas canisters have to be stored outside in a steel cabinet). Calor gas also causes a lot of condensation so wouldn't be appropriate.
A Halogen heater is way better and cheap to operate.
If not then why not a SMALL Calor gas heater?
