Anyone use a Finn Nor Offshore Spinning reel?

I am looking a buying a new offshore reel soon. Does anyone have a newer one? The older models seem to have issues, but all of the reviews from the last couple years seem top notch. I am looking at either the OFS 85 or 95. Recommendations of other reels are welcome, but I am looking for less than $200.
I'm looking for a 50#+ spinning reel. For bull mahi, ling, and small tuna.

Oh hey havnt seen you in a while. Well what are you fishing for? My only suggestion for offshore is the good ol abu garcia c3. Thats what a lot of guys use for there boats around here. Im not to much of a saltwater guy though.

What type of boat would you recommend for a 30 yo guy maintaining as his primary residence for 6 months?

I've lived on a 46' sailboat growing up for a year and found it comfortable enough. I was small then though. I also have other residences around the area and an office where I spend most of my time. This would be for sleeping most nights during the summer. What do you recommend for minimum size for each: sailboat and power? What type of sailboat would you recommend. I've had recent experience on a Hunter, Benneteau, and Swan - obviously Swan's out of price range. I'd like to spend around $40 - $60k. Thanks for advice other than "don't live on a boat" - like I said I have other residences.

Your location would be helpful. The first obstacle is finding a suitable marina/slip. Then in today's economy, there are lots of Power boats (small yachts) on the market, often at bargain prices. Sailboats are fewer in number and command more reasonable pricing.

I'd recommend a 3855 Bayliner as the biggest bang for the buck.......with maybe some of the midsized Sea Rays if you want to spend your money. Both will still have value in a couple years. Older Sailboats like the Tartan 37 or Catalina 37 are good buys but a 38 Benneatu will work very well, and barely fit your budget. The advantage being they are holding their value better.

Many marinas do not allow houseboats, and restrict live-aboards. Regardless of your short term needs, i recommend a boat that's in running condition. It will have value as the economy rebounds.

What should I be looking for in for in a white water raft?

I am looking for quality white water raft. I want it to hold up to 5 people and camping gear for a week. I am new at looking for qualities in the raft and don't quite know what to look for.

Aire, Inc. makes a tank of a raft that can haul the people and gear you seek. A frame is a choice more dependent on whether you want to paddle or row your boat. Think 5 people with paddles versus 1 guy with two oars and everyone else riding. Aires have an internal bladder that can be field repaired with tape. Other rafts need glue and fabric to repair a tear in the field. The best companies are Avon, Aire, Dib, Maravia. NRS rafts are made in Mexico and you get what you pay for. This is from years of experience repairing rafts for outfitters. You probably want at least a 14 footer with three thwarts (seats). If you don't plan on abusing it though, NRS is the least expensive of decent whitewater rafts. Aire and Maravia are made from PVC fabric, while the others are made of hypalon. PVC can be welded while hypalon must be glued. Contact whitewater outfitters for used rafts. Fall is the best time to hit them up.
