Which type of boat would be best for fishing on big lakes?
Would a boat that has rivets be better or a single fiberglass hull be better

Can't tell you what would be the best boat for you, but I can tell you what I have. See site 1. There are a few differences in the new one and the one I bought last year. This one is welded, don't know if I would go riveted, they will leak in time, my old one did.
Depends on what you mean by big lake, I take mine to Powell, 168 Miles long. Worst weather I have had it out in was 45 MPH wind with 60 MPH gusts waves about 5' lake was about 5 miles wide and about 15 long. It did great, and I felt very safe, I have the Targa 185 which 18.5' and I have the 150 Optimax engine on it. runs good, 40 gal tank for about 150 miles, and there is a lot of depends in that mileage statement.
If you are talking Great lakes, I would look for something bigger depending on how far you wanted to go and how long you planned on staying out. I believe the 18' sized boats to be good just about any where as long as you keep and eye on the weather and are considerate of conditions and your capability and experience.

About the the skiffs… There was a program in the 1980s or '90s which taught Somali boat builders and fishermen how to build fiberglass fishing boats. Thus the Somali pirates' fiberglass skiffs.
About USS Winston S. Churchill… There is always a Royal Navy exchange officer serving aboard DDG-81. When then-Cmdr. Holly Graf 'commanded' the WSC she became upset with the actions of the then RN Lt. serving aboard DDG-81. She then grabbed and took him out onto the bridge wing. At which point she assaulted him by wrapping both hands around his neck / throat and began to throttle / choke him in view of other crew members. This action has been described on several naval-centric blogs and in the general media.
Holly Graf certainly enjoyed hi-octane protection while her career was still on track…
