Should I keep my 2 hdc3 12 d2's or get a hdc4 15 or hdc4 12 for smaller box size for trunk space?
Hello everyone.
I'm thinking about selling both of my hdc3 12's because I would like a smaller box for more trunk space.
I still have my ap30001d Pipe but was thinking about selling it too for a amp that will produce cleaner power.
Then again I may just keep it due to the fact it's a 2 ohm stable amp and it may be a perfect for a hdc4 since they are d1's.
Well for a '97 Riviera, will a one sub setup make a smaller box and increase trunk space?
If so, what size sub should I get that'll not only hit better but with leaving a little more trunk space, let's say out of a 15 or 12?
I'm looking for loud but also want real low bass,you know, the kind that can be heard from a few blocks or maybe even a couple of miles away on a quiet day/night.
I soon may be putting the 2 hdc3's up for sale on Ebay.
Both or new and never been used or installed.
This is a very broad question. If size is limited, you're in the same boat as the setup I'm installing for a friend's Mustang. If you want a driver that will crush the lows and be loud, go with RE Audio. A single 12" or 15" will do perfectly. Now comes the money part. For $650 you can get a 15" XXX subwoofer that will produce unholy hell of bass! Want to be hard blocks away? With this, try MILES away! But then you need massive power. I recommend a Brutus BRZ2400.1D at $340. But now you need an AGM battery, Big 3 upgrade, AND a high-ouput alternator. This kind of setup, from bang to buck costs about $3,000 (including the custom enclosure tuned to 26-28Hz). OR go with a single 12" or 15" SXX subwoofer at less than $280. Have an expert or shop custom build you an enclosure for the driver tuned to 28Hz. Then power it with an Alpine PDX-M12 or Brutus BRZ1200.1D. Both will push 1,200 watts of clean power into it. I've used both personally. The Alpine is much much more efficient, drawing less off of your electrical system, so you may not need any real upgrades under the hood, whereas the Brutus will be taxing on your system. The Alpine costs about $350 more than the Brutus though. A single SXX driver can handle the full 1,200 watts in a custom ported enclosure just fine. I'm doing this type of setup for my friend and his Mustang for less than $1,300, including my time, labor, and equipment. Always use KnuKonceptz for wiring, the best setup would be 0AWG to a Tsunami capacitor, and then 4AWG to the amplifier itself. The HCAP series capacitors also has a distribution block built-in. This, of course, is just one recommendation.
