how to cross the atlantic in personal motor boat
Can one take a boat from America to Europe?
Serious answers only plz. I am talking about a personal boat/yacht, and boating from an American city over to Europe(For example I'm from NY, if I boated from NYC to England, would that be possible). Also along the way, is there places to fuel up, stop or anything in the middle of the ocean?

I do not own a boat, my cousin does and he was telling me you can definitely do this and it would be fun, he says if you have a nice sized boat, packd with food and beer, electronics, tv and all of those things it would be a good trip
Ive crossed the Atlantic 3 times now, and yes very possible, it depends alot on the size of the boat and the time of year, if its a Motor boat then this makes things a little more difficult, you would have to look at either heading North from NY in the gulf stream heading towards England thats for Winter time I believe, or heading south and go via the Caribbean. You would need to work out how far you can travel before running out of Fuel, so that when you plan your course you plan for places to stop and refuel, keeping in mind that you should have 20% in reserve, you can also store fuel on deck in Drums.
If your cousin has a sailing boat, then this makes things a little easier, because Fuel is not such a problem, if theres no wind then so be it, you float for two days. However you do need to keep a close eye on the weather, this is true in both types of boats, and you need to have planned a safe place to go to get away from severe conditions etc.
For weather updates you can listen to the VHF radio and HF radio, there is also a weather Guru out of Canada who will every day give you a update of the weather and if needed tell you to change your course etc to avoid any bad weather. There is also companies that you can pay to do this. Both types take it the particulars of your vessel, and also the max wind strength you would like to be in, and the Max swell height and they will guide you away from this sort of weather.
There is also a group of yachts that every year sail over together in a group and they kinda make it a race, and party at different stops along the way!! and the same group comes back.
