Very Clean cruiser
Bottom cleaning question?
Have a 25' 89 Avanti cruiser. Just had the transom redone due to rotten wood. They tell me I need bottom work done. I just spent 9K for interior upgrade & now this mechanical work and it's been in the various shops for months. How important is it that the "bottom work" be done? They say it causes a "drag". Boat does not come out of water(except of course, for the work) is back in a slip in marina. I haven't been able to use my boat all this time due to repairs and upgrades. I want to at least get some time in the water before the weather changes. Do I have to get bottom done right away?
Any help out there, suggestions? They tell me if's "very expensive". Is this something I can do, or maybe hire some workers to do, or is it skilled? Thanks.
Well, depending on your climate and water type you may REALLY need paint of Maybe not so much
IF you're in cold salt water you should get the paint done to protect the hull and preserve performance
IF you're in warm salt water paint is a must because those tough little calcium creatures may start apearing as well as trees will begin to grow if neglected for too long, even if left in for the week the hull will suffer in performance as well as looks and if left for long permanent damage may occur check out westmarine's boat bottom paint vids for the pros view...
