Mercury 150 Black Max Outboard Boat Motor stopped working.?
I just bought a 1994 Stratos Bass Boat with a Mercury 150 Black Max Outboard. The motor sounded good and strong when I bought it. I had it less than 24 hours and it quit working on the lake. It worked perfect all morning long, and then when coming back to the boat dock it started making a weird noise. I slowed down, stopped, let it idle and it wouldn't quit. So I turned the engine off, waited a minute or so, and tried to crank it back up. It won't even turn over at all now. I put a wrench to the flywheel and it won't turn. I called the guy and asked for my money back but he refuses to give it to me. Ain't nothing I can do about that because the Bill of Sale says "no garauntee". I messed up and I'm screwed, I know, so no negative commments, please. I just need some insight into what y'all might think is wrong! Thanks!
I had something similar happen it was my drive shaft that broke.Your going to separate your motor from the lower unit.When you do this you'll be able to tell if its the drive shaft or something else in the lower unit or if it in the motor its self. once you get them apart try turning the motor with wrench if it don't spin over then its in your motor.GOOD LUCK.
