What condition would a fiberglass ski boat be in after being sunk for almost a year?
Were talking a fresh water lake, down about 20 feet. I know the actual fiberglass should be fine, but what about the wood stringers, floor, ect... Also, what about an outboard motor? I'm guessing the motor would be scrap. Anything else to consider if I were going to raise it?
The boat is a 1965 model, so no positive floatation. I still cannot locate this boat, even though I know right about where it went down, and the lake isn't very deep. I guess its more of a curious issue as to why I want to recover it, since I've since replaced it. The only other problem is I can't get rid of the trailer in case its recovered. The park police said they would recover it if I can find it at no cost. Also, I'm afraid of it being a liability should someone strike it with their boat or something.
it sounds like you will be trusting your luck as to whether it is cost effective to raise & restore the ski boat. first question, why did it sink? the boat should have had positive floatation to keep it from sinking.

the boat may need the following problems fixed, foam floatation will need to be removed/replaced. any wood or core material may be waterlogged and may need replacement (including the transom, floor, deck, gunnell,stringers etc) replace all interior seats, etc.
fiberglass is porous and may have osmosis problems (blisters)
