What activities to do in Cancun?
Hi Folks,
I am off to Cancun at the end of October on holiday. I was just wondering if anybody has been there and can recommend somethings to do while I am there.
There is a plethora of things to do in Cancún. One thing you definitely have to do is go out and check out the nightlife. The nightlife in Cancún is insane and you will have a blast. They party till the sun comes up. There are many places to go, but here are a few of the best...
CoCo Bongo, Senor Frogs, Dady O, Dady Rock, Dos Equis Bar, Congo, The City (it's the name of a club), and Bulldogs. CoCo Bongo is a must and you haven't been to Cancún until you have been there. They put on a great show and it is world famous. Also, Senor Frogs is a must if you travel to Cancún. They have a water slide so when you get good and drunk you can go on the slide that starts inside and takes you outside and throws you into the lagoon. It's a lot of fun!
During the day you can check out the Ancient Mayan Ruins such as Chichen-Itaz and/or Tulum. It's always good to see the history of a place and you can see some of the wonders the Mayan Civilization has built.
Also, you can go to Xel-ha and/or X-Caret. Both are ecological nature parks where you can see beautiful animals and swim with dolphins and things of that sort. They are very popular places to go while in Mexico.
One thing I recommend you check out is Captain Hook's Pirate Cruise. You board one of two pirate ships and sail out into the Caribbean ocean and they serve you a dinner then on the way back the two ships converge and have a pirate fight and swing from ship to ship. It's really neat and fun to see.
Also, you must rent some sea-doos/waverunners and go out into the Caribbean with them. One place I like to go is called Ocean Runner. They take you for a 45 min. ride out to the second largest coral reef in the world then you snorkel for 45 mins. then you head back for another 45 min. ride. The sea-doos go about 60 m.p.h. and you can jump waves with them...It's a blast!
If you go out to eat I highly recommend that you go to Lorenzillo's. They have the best seafood in the world and it's all caught fresh daily from the Caribbean.
If you like water activities a good place to go is Aquaworld. You can rent sea-doos, go parasailing, go in a submarine, or in a glass bottom boat so you can see the underwater life.
It's also fun to walk around the hotel zone and go into all the little flea-markets. It's basically the locals that sell handcrafted items of the Mexican culture.
Another option is taking a day trip over to Isla Mujeres and look around. They have tons of shops and cantinas (bars) that you can visit and also restaurants.
If you like golf Cancún has a lot of golf courses to offer and almost all of them rent clubs so you don't have to worry about taking your own.
If you are a big party person you must go on the PARTY HOPPER TOUR...you will get sooo wasted and drunk. It's a lot of fun and you won't remember your name at the end of the night. It's a group that takes you to three bars in one night and you get in VIP into all three. You pay only one price...I believe it's around $65, but it's worth it. Getting into one club alone is that much. In that price that includes all your liquor (anything you want to drink) and admission and transportation. It's a blast!!!
