What would be a very economical motor boat for inshore and coastal trips?
something with a small cabin at least, and won't cost a fortune in fuel to operate, no need for fast speed, 6 or 7 knots would be fine
Look at the Wellcraft and Trophy walkarounds. The will be very inexpensive, you can choose the power for your needs and still get cabin space. More of a weekend warrior than a long trip. Do you really want a cabin? Unless you are spending the nights on them often, I think that they are heavy, not near as responsive and a little sloppier than a center console. I have friends with cabins boats from 32 foot to 61. The larger are fine, but a 32 footer you are done with it after one night. I own a center console and have loved it. Cabins are a pain to keep clean, and unless you plan on having one with an a/c are worthless. Buy a boat for what you will do with it 90% of the time. I would maybe stay over night once or twice a year, therefore not practical for me even though we average once a week on the boat
