Why don't more people got to the lakes on week ends and rent or buy a speed boat and jet skis?
are you pretty much set when you have a nice truck, a boat and a jet ski? (especially if in your 20s?_
why more dont at least rent?
HOW IS IN THE UK? IS THIS ONLY A USA THING MOSTLY? OR HOW COMPARED TO IN BRITAIN AND WHY? WHICH AGES?
You just are not visiting all the right places. Boating Brits are all over the place. You have 4,000 miles on inland waterways, over 11,000 miles of coastline. Furthermore, millions of Brits are on the water:
Almost 3% of Brits own pleasure boats. Thats 1.8 million boats owned by UK households. Of that, sailboats and narrowboats are the biggest group followed by Jetskis, canoes/kayaks, followed by powerboats and and windsurfers.
In comparison, 3% of US households own pleasure boats. So while the numbers are dramatic (12 million boats in the US vs 1.8 million in UK) the % is the same. Britian is the size of the US State of Kansas. So, while the population, geographic size, and miles of waterways, are dramatically greater in the US. Britian has the same % of private boat ownership.
Obviously, it is not just a "US" thing.
Renting boats, especially canal boats, narrow boats, etc is very big business in the UK.
