Odds on becoming pro fishermen. fishing jobs?fish jobs?michigan?
Hello, my name is eric. I'm 16 years of age and i absolutely love to fish. its all i wanna do all the time. i live in a small town near detroit michigan. Iv been fishing forever. I know more about fish and fishing then you would think. I tell my grandpa and dad more info then they have ever taught me. I dont have the best grades in school. sadly a little above a 2.0 . but im so passionate about fishing and fish. i can bring myself to focus in on them so easily and everything is just so facinating. me and my dad have 17' tracker targa boat. my dad isnt as passionate as me and will often use live bait. I want to enter tournements i really know what im doing. I cant see myself sitting at a desk as a job either. i have to do something with fish. can someone point me in the right direction? I plan to fish every day this summer at a small local lake. I have already spent 200 + dollars on a new baitcaster and lures!

Eric I think you got your answer pretty well answered but I want to interject a few thoughts about skill versus knowledge. Think about these few things I am going to talk about.
one) at sixteen all kids know more than their dads
two) how many books about bass fishing have you read, studied, written notes about and then went out and proved the information to be wrong? or right?
three) do you keep a journal about every time on the water. Listing all the conditions, time of year weather, water clarity, depth fished, what used, water temp, line weight, presentation and more?
four) do you know the mental state of being a professional at anything?
Five) do you know that for every know it all teenage fishermen wanting to be a pro there are fifty touring pros that have read every book about bass that have ever been written, that keep a journal, that want to be the best with so much enthusiasm that they know their work ethic, their dedication to detail, their determination to always be learning and their desire to be the best isn't a privilege but the end result of years and years of preparation, practice (under all conditions) and knowledge. And they all came from bass clubs where they won some and in some they got skunked. How many of these totally dedicated enthusiasts are you going to out perform on a regular basis? Can you come back from total disappointment because you understand the human brain and what causes complex psychological reactions that make most men cry? And, how to solve a psychological problem should you get one? Whenever I think I know it all, I pick up another book or even go back and re-read one and always, always find more Information I missed even in some I read before.
Answering your question about the odds... about six million to one without training the brain. It gets better though with every book you have read, made notes from, especially ones written by the pros (yesterday's and today's) for suggestions to do this or that, when and where. I think understanding where might be the most important where do bass go in every condition and under every circumstance?. About one in six thousand if you can give yourself an chance through the right preparation, practice intensity and knowledge. But work isn't play, if you want it bad enough nothing will come between you and your chance for history. Be prepared to raise your G P A, in that sponsors want athletes who are smart, humble, good looking and can talk and chew gum at the same time. Did you know that some colleges are offering scholarships for bass fishing persons? and that you will be competing against them as well as the successful pros for the rest of your life? You've got some work to do. Just get it done and live the dream life knowing why you became the best bass angler in the world.... or didn't.
