where is a good place for romantic getaway near okla?
I am going to celebtrate my 25th anniversary next feb--what is a good getaway that is within driving distance from okla that is resonably priced?
Not sure how short of a drive you want but here are a few ideas. My husband and I lived in Tulsa when we were dating and since he owned his own business and I was at school at TU we took little weekend trips alot.
-Grand Lake (about an hour North East of Tulsa) Has a nice charm to it. There are little cabins at Waters Edge RV Park on the Water (Friends own this and are very friendly) There are a few neat little lake resteraunts and the lake is beautiful to drive around or hang out on(if you get access to a boat of coarse) For a fun night go to Ugly Johns to eat/drink
-St Louis, ok ok I know you may be like WHAT since most say St. Louis is the armpit of America but its not. Stay at the Chase Park Plaza. Its a NICE BIG BEAUTIFUL hotel but they have rooms with nice rates. Very romantic with four very good resteraunts in the hotel and a movie theatre as well. We fell in love all over again here. Its within walking distance of a few quaint bistros. Go to the Zoo, its free and the park/area its in is nice. Ride the little train at teh zoo. Go to the Arch, and the fairy boats on the river that are casinos can be fun.
-If you want to stay in OK, go to Tulsa. There are little romantic spots there. Eat at Molly's Landing (this was our second date) and go to Utica Square shopping area and walk around. Riverpark is fun to walk or bike together.
-Lake of the Ozark if you want a further drive and maybe more expensive. It is beautiful here and there are cabins/lake homes for rent.
-Taos NM is a long drive (probably10 hours from most areas in OK)but if you want to make the drive and enjoy the mountains, there may still be enough snow to ski. This was the first real vacation we took together and it was SO romantic. We stayed at PowderHorn (small but nice)on the ske mountain and the villiage area around the mountain is quaint and romantic. Taos in the city has a very laid back low key atmosphere. Lots of upcoming starving artist and litle fun places to eat and have drinks. This being in the mountains is going to be a little pricey but its manageable.
