I'm thinking about moving to Saudi Arabia for a job.?
Sunset Beach Marina in Al-Khobar (Saudi Arabia) is where I should be moving to.
I'm a Captain of Sailing and Motor Yacht and have a jod offer to run a Sunseeker 84ft (motor yacht) in Al-Khobar.
What should i know about living in Al-Khobar ?
What should my wife and kid know about move to Al-Khobar ?

Hi James - well for sure Dubai needs a person with your experience but what the heck - if Khobar needs you then go for it !!!
Khobar along with Dahran, Dammam is the place where there's a lot of Westeners are based (largely due to the Saudi ARAMCO) and almost all of them are housed INSIDE a COMPOUND.
Life in Khobar is pretty much easy and since you will be in charge of a yacht - then you will definitely be a member of the Marina and Sailing Club there. Life is fun and easy really as I mentioned earlier and with all those friends who share the same social life as you are around you - there is no dull moment - while inside the compound.
I would suggest that you ensure your family shall be given an accomodation inside a western compound rather than an apartment or flat as the compound will play a great role in your family's lifestyle. The compund will shield your normal social activities from the heat of strict saudi rules and laws. During the first 3-4 months - you will find the Saudi life as really fascinating and full of curiosity. After that you will feel somewhat bore (socially) but this can be remedied by lots and tons of activities with your fellow friends there.
Your wife of course should expect that she wont be able to drive a car nor able to work legally while there with you. She could be really bored to death. She is expected to wear that black robe (abaya) everytime she will be in the public or even inside your car. The tarha or hijab (head wear) is not really necessary in Khobar but she has to carry it inside her bag in case some religious police will dare to question your wife.
Your kid will not be able to really have fun as he will be always with you all the time and his playing/kidding area is limited to your house and within the compound. But hey - you will have more time with them and it will bond you and the whole family really to the max.
Alcohol is there - but you need connections to have a bottle or beer that you like.
Before I forgot - Khobar is just a few kilometers away from Bahrain. Check it out !
