Group 1 elements and uses:
As a Element: Lithium has a lot of uses. The uses are, when you put it in water and then dry it, it becomes helium. It is also used to make tritium, types of batteries (shown above), These are lightweight and are not as toxic as lead and cadmium batteries. These batteries have applications as small as watch batteries and as large as military and space vehicles.ceramics, enamels, glass, lubricants, rubber products, dyes, had a suggested use as an oxidizer in solid fuel rockets, and with another compound, it is used to treat Manic Depression. Used also as a carbon dioxide in space ships and submarines, military and exploration.
As a Compound: Lithium Hydride is used to inflate life boats and balloons and Lithium Deuteride is used as the explosive agent in H-bombs (Seen on the front page).Some related compounds are: Lithium Hydride (mentioned above), Lithium Aluminum Hydride, Lithium Carbonite, Lithium Chloride, and Lithium Deuteride (mentioned above). These are just some of the many related compounds.
Sodium:
As an Element: Sodium is rarely used by itself since it reacts violently to both water and air.
As a Compound: sodium is used in baking soda and is most commonly found in our every day table salt. Sodium compounds however are important to the paper, glass, soap, textile, petroleum chemical, and metal industries. Sodium hydroxide gets grease out of the drains, is needed for liquid soap, and is in yellow highway lights. It is widely used in order to refine reactive metal. For instance when sodium is in metallic form, it can be used separate potassium from its compound.A more known usage of Sodium is in Street lights. The orange-yellowish lights which can be seen on most highways are made of twin sodium D lines. An advantage of sodium lights over the fluorescent one is the fact that the high pressure sodium increases the spectrum of wavelength, therefore making it suitable in situations of Haziness and fog.
A lot more scientific uses of sodium are present and scientist often use over potassium for drying solvents.
Potassium
As An Element : potassium is used in most soaps. However, potassium has a lot of other uses. It can also be used in things like glassware, matches, and explosives. Also, plants need potassium to live, and potassium helps humans' metabolism. Another use of potassium is in medicine, usually used in medications to clear the nose.
As A Compound:
•Potassium bromide, KBr, is extensively used in the manufacture of photographic plates, films, and papers.
•Potassium chlorate, KClO3, is a powerful oxidizing agent. It is used in explosives, matches, weedkillers, fireworks, and disinfectant.
•Potassium chloride, KCl, is the most abundant of potassium compounds. It is perhaps best known as a no-sodium table salt substitute. It is also an ingredient in many chemical fertilizers and is used in the manufacture of other chemicals.
•Potassium hydroxide, KOH, is often called caustic potash. It is used in the manufacture of soaps and detergents. It is a good drain cleanser because it combines with grease (that clog drains) to form water soluble soaps.
•Potassium carbonate, K2CO3, is used in the laboratory as a drying agent and industrially in the manufacture of soft soap, hard glass, and in the dyeing industry.
•Potassium iodide, KI, is used in medicine, particularly in the treatment of goitre resulting from iodine deficiency.
•Potassium nitrate, KNO3, is used in chemical fertilizers, in gunpowder and match heads.
•Potassium permanganate, KMnO4, is a purple solid soluble in water. It is used in volumetric analysis as an oxidizing agent. It is also used as a bactericide and a disinfectant.
•Potassium sulfate, K2SO4, is used as a fertilizer, particularly for tobacco plants, and in the chemical industry in the preparation of alums.
•Potassium superoxide, K2O, is used in the respiratory equipment because it efficiently generates fresh oxygen while removing carbon dioxide.
•The superoxide KO2 is used in breathing apparatus where moisture in the breath and carbon dioxide reacts with it to release oxygen [2KO2 + H2O + 2CO2 → 2KHCO3 + O2 ]

Pound it into a bowl shape with a bowling ball or a shot put. Make sure that the amount of water that it would take to fill it up weighs more than it does. Then it will float on water when it's empty.
Weight of water displaced = Weight of aluminum boat
Water is 1,000 kg/m^3 or 1g/cm^3

A pair of these nostalgic shoes would be an definite asset for me ( a senior) to navigate the waves at the cottage in my little aluminum boat. The youngsters would applaud my sensible attire!
