No two people on the autism spectrum are alike, so the best idea is to get some input from the children themselves or from their parents. Firstly, inquire about what their special interests are, and then, plan to do things that involve these interests as much as you (reasonably) can, for a real hit! People on the spectrum often have 'perseverations"-special interests that they love quite intensely- and if you can even talk to them about these things, or get them a few library books about them, or some relevant toys, or bring them somewhere fun that is related to them, they will love it!
Secondly, ask if the children will like staying home more or going out more. Some children love the water, and as long as it is safe, this can keep them happy for hours and hours. For a fun activity, get a couple of rolls of heavy-gauge aluminum foil, and help them make boats out of it to float in a pool or down a "river" made with a garden hose in a back yard, or even in a "lake" made in a sandbox.
Thirdly, if you have parental permission, many children on the spectrum love vestibular stimulation. So, if the children like being spun around, and they are little enough for this, grab their hands and swing them around in the air, out on the grass or in another comparatively safe place, so that a fall will not hurt them. (Ask the children first if this is OK, and probably, wait till you know them pretty well, first.). And, merry-go-rounds are great for this too- with the warning that some kids prefer not to go too fast, so ask first, and gauge your speed to what they like.
Fourthly, if the children are old enough, structured games will be good, with well-defined rules. Make them developmentally appropriate: this can be tricky, since a child on the spectrum may be much quicker with logic than his or her social skills indicate. The best way to tell is to ask the child, or simply try it and see. Great ideas include games where the social component is not paramount, but logic is, or even a bit of luck. My top picks include card games like Crazy Eights or Uno, Chess or Checkers, Stratego, and other board games that the children like. If one game does not work, try another.
Take them to an aquarium or museum, but read up on the creatures there first. Be prepared to leave early in the event of sensory issues: for children who are light-sensitive, bring sunglasses; for children who are sound-sensitive, earmuffs may work, but they may be uncomfortable for children, so be prepared in case they don't.
Other great ideas include arts and crafts, baking cookies (guys will enjoy this too, in case they are guys), building any wooden things, making things out of Legos or other building toys, and building a ramp to roll marbles down. If you take marbles to the playground and roll them down the slide, you will probably be able to the children interested- just make sure nobody else wants to use the slide.
There are plenty of things that many kids love to do which they might also like, such as petting zoos and horseback riding.
To buy yourself a bit of time in-between things, find out what their favorite songs are or favorite videos, and let them play them. Don't worry if they watch the same ones several times, as long as they want to.

The use of GPS Course Over Ground (COG) is a highly inaccurate method of determining deviation. COG is the vector sum of course being steered, wind and tide or ocean current. A better method is to choose a distant visible landmark, set it in as a temporary waypoint in the GPS and point the bow at the land mark. Note the difference between compass and GPS. This is deviation. Do this with enough points and you can construct a reasonable deviation table. Better yet, hire a compass adjuster to do the work for you and adjust out the deviation in the process. In a wood, fiberglass or aluminum boat, a competent adjuster can get all deviations below 2 degrees. For practical purposes this is nill with a typical 5 degree graduation compass dial.
Pound it into a bowl shape with a bowling ball or a shot put. Make sure that the amount of water that it would take to fill it up weighs more than it does. Then it will float on water when it's empty.
Weight of water displaced = Weight of aluminum boat
Water is 1,000 kg/m^3 or 1g/cm^3
