Visiting Key West any activity suggestions?
Can anyone tell me which tours are the best for a weekend in Key West, best places or beaches to go if you have small dogs, any accessible private islands to explore by renting a boat?
I had in mind the glass bottom boat tour and a jet ski tour. Any thoughts?
I wanted to do snorkeling also, but not with a group of people, I was more thinking of a shallow beach for snorkeling. The idea of being underwater really deep gives me instant anxiety. Any suggestions on beaches? I read Higgs beach is a good one for snorkeling..
Also, my boyfriend wants to rent a boat, so we can explore private islands and sandbars, as we have 2 dogs and beaches in Key West are not dog friendly, except dog beach, which didn't get great reviews.
Can anyone give me some advice, thanks!
BTW, we have boating experience, we live on the West coast of Southern Florida.
Key West is so small that you can walk the island in less then an hour. Most people come to Key West to drink on Duval Street. If you are not into that, then the place will get dull real fast. Try the "conch" tour, the trolley will show you everything there is to see, which really isn't much in such a small place. There are many boat rentals, you can pick what you like. We really don't have islands to explore, the trip out to Fort Jefferson is the closest thing we got. It is just over 2 hours by boat. Note; Beaches in the keys are all made out of coral reef. Only man-made beaches have sand and most are private. Your dog may not be able to handle coral. People wear sandals rather then bare feet. Also, wild chickens wander all around, keep the dogs under control, else they chase into the street & get hit by a car. The sunset show at Mallory Square can be fun in good weather. Have a good trip.

You missed the Speakmon Regatta by one day. (it was Saturday) Rowers from ALL over, and the starting point is the Hayden Run bridge- finish line is past the Fishinger Bridge. Rowers use the whole river when the ski boats aren't out. During the height of the summer, they tend to stay south of Fishinger, and they're always close to the shoreline.
Had you gone on Saturday, you never would have found a place to park!!!!
I had a pretty active and exciting life until my motorcycle crash. I have a PhD in physics, but the crash did some brain damage and I lost a good part of that content along with ability in higher math.
