i want to list an outboard motor in the cincinnati and northern Ky. area to sell and i want to do it free...where can i do this
E-bay is a great place to sell boat parts. The insertion fee is not really that high. It is based on starting bid, photos and different listing options. There is also a final value fee which is based on how much it sold for.
Check it out before ruling out E-bay. The fees are small enough to make it worthwhile.

Yes, there used to be flatboats that took all sorts of cargo from Port Republic to Harpers Ferry, and from different points along the South Fork in Page County to HF as well. I have some great stories written at the end of the 19th century and beginning of th 20th century by those who used to make the runs. Many would build the boats in the southern Valley and sell the boats for lumber once they arrived at HF… and then walk home, south “up the Valley.” Pig iron was a major commodity taken on boats from Page County, but during the Civil War, the iron was redirected to Tredegar at Richmond, via wagons to Gordonsville, and then by rail to Richmond.

First thing I would do is get a circuit breaker in the system.
Then as mentioned before something is getting hot and it is shutting down.
Look under the pedal and check ALL the connections, to make sure there is no corrosion and they are tight. Also check for what might look like hot spots, black spots on the connectors.
After that you may have to take it some place and have it looked at, I know how to take the top of the motor and check things there but not sure how to tell someone else to do it and be carefull of a couple of springs.
But you have some kind of short, after a period of time it gets hot and looses contact and the motor stops, cools off and starts back up again.
Check all visible connections for corrosion and tightness.
