sea fishing boats
does any one know what boat is good to go deep sea fishing ?
i live in Long Beach CA i want to go deep sea fishing but i dont know what boat charges less and takes you to better fishing areas
The prices are all roughly the same for the same length fishing trips (though if you want to go on a limited load trip it will cost more). The areas fished depend on the length of the trip and what's biting, and all the skippers want to get on the best bite they can.
Right now the local boats (half and three-quarter day) are loading up on sand bass, the full day and overnight boats may be running across to Catalina for calico bass and a chance of yellowtail or white seabass. Overnight boats might also be heading offshore for tuna, but that costs more, and the fish are scarcer than off San Diego.
If you haven't done much fishing, sand bass are a good fish to start with -- they're relatively easy to catch during the summer spawn, they're decent-sized (12 inch minimum size, you might see some twice as long), and pretty good eating. There have been quite a few barracuda mixed in, too, to add variety. When the sandies are on, all the boats fishing them will be in the same area, so the only thing to worry about is how long a trip you want to take. I would recommend doing your trip on a weekday so the boat won't be as crowded.

Deep Sea Fishing - The Water Fantaseas Way!
is it still possible to join up with fishing/boats trips out to sea? do jobs like that still exist anymore?
in the US, like you join a program where they go out and get catch fish or transport something, then comeback a month or so later.
Fishing jobs are essentially unregulated.
If you want a merchant seaman job, you have to get in touch with the Coast Guard and get your mariner's document. Be ready to jump through some hoops and be patient.
