best saltwater fishing boat
What are the best techniques and or lures/bait for catching grouper, snapper, & other large fish species?
I'm fishing on a saltwater charter boat tomorrow and would like to increase my chances of catching a larger species fish. I'm not a "sport fisherman" and have no idea what a lot of the terms in the local bait/tackle shop are. I've heard that clarkspoons are good but have no experience whatsoever with how they are used. Also, what are fishing skirts used for and how do they work?
Snapper & Grouper like ANY live or cut bait. (Anchovies, Sardines, Squid, Herring, Medhadden, ect)
Most jigging is done with silver spoons, or with skirted lures. The skirts add a life-like effect to the jigs.

first of all you are going to have alot of fun with your tank!!!! i have a 30 gallon freshwater tropical and here is a list of fish i have: tetras they are very hardy animals ecspecially for a new tank then i have some bannanna barbs they are yellow and lots of fun very hardy then i have some black skirted tetras have long flowing fins though very pretty then i have glo fish very colorful and i have found them to be quite hardy i also have a glass fish pretty wierd looking seethrough orange spots on him cool then i have a chinese algae eater eats algae and can get very large up to 8 inches. whatever u do in your tank make sure you dont overstock it i think you could hapily house 22 or so inches of fish in the tank. Good luck hope i helped!!!! i had mollys too but they died not for new tanks i made that mistake and also i read that they like a bit of aquarium salt added to their water but im going to try them again and i think they are very pretty snails okay your aquarium can do without them i read fish also love places to hide for your tank i recomend live plants thy cut down amonia and some driftwood is very cool rocks do well and try not to get to many artificial decorations because mine started growing algae and its very hard to get off!!!!
you can get plans on the net for free just search u can find..but you can buy a small boat cheaper than you can build one
Surf-fishing can be tough compared to freshwater Catfishing/Bass Fishing.
Why?
The Gulf is a BIG place! You must learn how to enhance your odds on "finding" the fish if you want to be successful.
Notice that other people that answered would have you fishing jetty's/seawalls/Etc.
Why?
Finding good "surf-fishing" is tough. Finding good Jetty-fishing/inlet fishing is MUCH easier.
Your "best bet" for actual "Surf-fishing":
Walk your favorite beach at the lowest possible tide. Look for sloughs, sandbars, oyster-bars and channels that will be submerged at high tide. Come back and fish the high tide!
Rigging- Sinker-slide Rig with a 2-4 OZ Pyramid sinker. OR (on SUPER-CALM days) a Float rig.
Bait- Fresh dead Shrimp. Live Shrimp. Live Mud-minnow. Live Pinfish. Fresh-frozen squid.
