saltwater boats
What has to be done to my boat engine when going from fresh water to saltwater?
The engine is a 115 horsepower, 1982 Evinrude.
In salt water you are to wash your motor down, with a hose, to get rid of any salts, that would rust your engine and boat... You love it, it love you?

Ranger Boats Saltwater Commercial
My boat sank last summer and the outboard motor got submerged in saltwater is it ruined?
Should I try to fix it, sell it, or junk it
I Wouldn't be so quick to dismiss as junk.....I once had an 85HP Evinrude that was on a runabout that sunk at the dock, and the tide would submerge twice a day, but was exposed at low tide, After months of this the owner gave me the boat and motor, if I would get it out of the slip. The day after got it up, I took it to the shop and had Kim one of the mechanics check it out......to my surprise when I went back to the shop a couple hours later, the motor was happily running in the test tank.......it seemed that air was trapped under the cowling , and the lower housing being Alum, wasn't harmed and of course the gear case is filled with oil, I know it ran for several years with only a little cleaning. I hope you have the same luck!
