Wooden Ships for Sale?
I love the sea and I have never been sailing, but would love to start, I want to get a ship/boat that is anywhere from 25-40 feet long so I can dock it cheaply and not have to higher a large crew. I wouldn't mind having to build one, so if you know where I can get plans for my dream, that would be great, any suggestions would be awesome.
What IS IT with you people who obviously know NOTHING about boats and boating who can say with a straight face that you want to BUILD YOUR OWN 40 FOOTER.. Do you have ANY IDEA what is involved in doing that.
Anway.. what makes you think you can dock it cheaply? The AVERAGE going rate WORLD WIDE for dockage space is about $0.60 cents PER FOOT PER DAY PER MONTH.. so a 40 foot boat OF ANY MATERIAL would be 40/x 0,60x 30 or $24 PER DAY or $720 PER MONTH.. and that figure is accurate for most places in the US other than the West Coast and in most of the Caribbean.. so I don't know what you mean by saying "so I can dock it cheaply". In addition to the MONTHLY cost of a slip in a marina.. YOU MUST HAVE INSURANCE.. the days of just pulling into a marina with no insurance were over 20 YEARS ago and on your 40 footer you are looking at $300 to $500 PER MONTH just for INSURANCE... insurance is even required in the Caribban now.. so that avenue is not available to you.
NOW.. as for the COST of a 40 footer.. you can find a nice one on Boat Trader Online for $100,000 to $200,000 and you can expect a YEARLY COST OF MAINTENANCE of around $100 PER FOOT or $4000 for your WOODEN BOAT.
Just remember.. "B O A T" is short for "(B)reak (O)ut (A)nother (T)housand" and owning a FIBERGLASS or METAL boat is like standing in the shower cutting $10 bills in half.. with it WOOD BOAT it's more like $100 bills.

I think I found the photo on the Ahoy website. The site has an interesting new set up. I see that prospective buyers need to register before they can see the current list of boats for sale. I wonder if they still need to pay the deposit up front as well? I don't think I know of any other business that asks for money up front like this.
I'm not sure if you will get many people beating a path to your door with such an obscure link to your boat – you might be lucky
