Where to go in Portland, Oregon?
After watching the show Portlandia I fell in love with Portland!
I plan on visiting this summer and since I've never been there before I have no idea where to go or what to do.
I want to get a real feel of the city and wouldn't mind checking out the music scene.
Where are some good places to go? to eat? stay? ect.

OMSI is alot of fun and has a cool setting. Washington Park is really good too if you like nature and animals. Downtown can be tricky driving/parking depending on time of day but there are some interesting spots. Pioneer Square is kindof the central hangout spot in Downtown. Pioneer Place has alot of nice shopping. All kinds of stores, cafes and the like nearby. Within the last few years, they've put in an aerial tram on the south side of town which is only a couple of bucks to ride - kindof like a gondola you'd see in the Swiss Alps. You can also take boat rides along the river. I've been on the Sternwheeler, and old-fashioned paddle-wheel ship which is nice. You can also have lunch served onboard for a price. I understand they also have jetboat rides if you like something a little more exciting.
If you're into live events, you might want to schedule your visit around the Rose Festival which is Portland's big annual event. It goes until some time in June. More details here:
