pontoon and deck boat
making a home ade redneck pontoon?
every summer i go to my cousins and fish with him and now hes got his fancy pontoon boat and im stuck on shore my cousin wont let me take my row boat out so im wondering hes agreed with this idea but can we take like either 2 55 gallon metal or plastic drums and attach them together and then make a ply wood deck on top so he can tow me behind his pontoon.
is this possible?
its because i have an older aluminum row boat and he says its not water worthy even though it handled montana lakes with montana winds, and yea i was thinking that id need to make a cone kind of shape for the front of the barrel
It's possible. Making it work right is the biggest thing. Chase is right about the fifty-five-gallon drums. They're going to want to dive. Is your cousin's pontoon boat an actual pontoon like a Sun Tracker or something? If it is, look at how the pontoons on it are set up. Don't forget skegs and a sail. You're gonna have a lot of welding to do.
And you weren't kiddin' when you said homemade redneck pontoon.

Do you have any tips and/or suggestions for taking a 6 month old boating?
In a couple weeks we're planning on taking our 6 month old out on a pontoon for 1/2 a day.
Has anyone else taken a baby boating? How did it go? I'm curious as to what we should take with us to occupy him. Do you think we should take something (I'm not sure what -- a walker??) for him to sit and play in, or just a blanket so he can play on the deck? We have a life jacket, sunscreen, and a hat.
He's not quite crawling or pulling up yet -- he's usually very content sitting on the floor and playing.
Yeah. I've taken my kids boating since they were teeny tiny babies. When we did the pontoon thing, we took a playpen (the baby was seven months at the time, so their ages are comparable). We held her and let her crawl around some but the playpen was nice because the wind and the hum of the motor put her right to sleep!
I'm sure he's going to love it! Have a blast!

I went on a cruise to Alaska once.
You can actually leave the boat when it's at port and then you can shoot things.
Also, if you leave from Vancouver you can buy Cuban cigars and smoke them on the deck of the boat at midnight.
The really weird thing was that in June the sun doesn't go down until 11pm, and it just goes behind the mountains for a little while.
It was awesome.
