pontoon Boat Sun
How do i winterize my pontoon boat?
I have a 21ft sun tracker classic. The yr is a 1997 and in good condition. The winter is on its way and im not sure how to winterize my boat. In the pontoons there is some water im not sure how to get that out either. Thank you for you answers i really appreciate it.
as far as the water in the pontoons, you need to siphon it out since most don't drain from plugs. They usually have plugs on the top of the pontoons toward the back under the decking. It's a pain but you need to get that water out. Also look for cracks since you have water in the pontoons and get them repaired. Welding aluminum is not for the do it yourselfer.
Fog the engine, it's easy...get fogging oil for outboard motors and the instructions are on the can....run it and fog it.
Either have it shrink-wrapped or tarp it good to preserve the boat from rot and wear from the outside elements.(take down the bimini if it has one) If you tarp it, throw in some mothballs to keep those pests from hibernating and chewing your seats and crapping on your floor.
And take all gear out and store inside...you will be amazed how much mildew and mold there will be in the spring time.
