boater education question?
i dont understand this
"In Texas a person cannot operate a windblown vessel over 14 feet in length, a motorboat with more than 10 horsepower, or personal watercraft with more than 10 horsepower unless he/she:
* was born after September 1, 1984 and has passed a boater education class or equivalency examination prescribed by the department.
* is 18 years of age or older or born before September 1, 1984, or,
on the first part it says if you are born after September 1, 1984 you have to have passed a boater education class
but the next part says you just have to be 18, and says nothing about boater education
can some one explain this to me?
This puts people into 2 groups. The younger one can boat IF they take the safety course. The older group is not required to take the course. My husband and I both took the course with our kids. Its a great refresher and we learned a few new things too.
