performance ski boats
472 CID cadillac engine into a 1965 Chevy C10?
I have no doubts that this conversion can be done BUT;
- is it worth the effort?
- any performance parts?
The truck currently has a fresh (year unknown) 327 with a 4 speed manual and is used to tow a ski boat.
The 472 is from a 1970 Cadillac de Ville and only has 52,000 miles on it. Car was totalled.
-Joe- Tranny might be a problem. Suspect it may be cracked. Will know better when we get it out. As I stated, car is write-off and to say it's bent would be an understatement.
This is a good combo for a chevy truck!

On the one hand, the advertisers are responsible. It's easy to sell loud go-fast excitement, or gross luxury, not only because they are superficially appealing, but because an image can be sold along with the product. A person buys an 'exciting' boat not only to have it, but to be exciting himself, because the marketing deliberately creates that association.
From the consumer's side, besides falling prey to marketing strategies, car culture reigns supreme. It's unfortunate, but not really surprising, that the most popular boats would be loud, fast, and drivable like cars, instead of slow, quiet, and requiring some specialized skills to use.
Just my $0.02.
As Ken says, skate skis don't have metal edges, but they have different flex characteristics than classic skis. There was a brief fad about 15 years ago for "combi" skis that were designed for both skate and classic style skiing, but they weren't very good for either, and they quickly faded away. Now, both styles have become ever more specialized to the point where really dedicated skiers will often have several pairs of skis for varied conditions and skiing styles.
