outboard ski boats
I live in New Jersey & am buying a boat. Do I need a Licence & Insurance?
I am buying a used 14 foot Jon boat with a trolling motor. I know it needs to be registered & so does the trailer. I was looking online & read that you need a licence to oporate a power boat or jet ski on New Jersey waterways. My question is, does a trolling motor make it a power boat? Or does power mean only "gas outboard" power boat? Also do I need insurance for the boat & trailer? I was reading online & it said that I only need to bring the title for the boat & my info. It said nothing about insurance.

I Live in Lake Hopatcong , NJ and am an active boater in NJ. I own boats since I was 16 years old . to your questions now, Yes you will need an boater licence since your are going to enjoy that boat in non -trial water, another meanning, an lake.or a river. its easy you just go to your local DMV and request a boat edosment and it will cost $ 5.00 for the up grade. you must also go to a USCG approved boater course. to get more info on that you shall go to www.USCG.gov or to www.boatus.com they will hook you up for a local classes in your area. here in lake hopatcong theres one every week at our local resturants and/or marinas. also about insurance, NJ doesnot require an insurance for the boat or trailer,. but its good to have it, just incase.. all insurance compines provide PWC insurance. you car / truck insurance covers your trailer while is getting pull by the car. if its gets stolen, damage exmaple in your driveway, marina,. then your car insurnce will not cover, thats where your boat / trailer insurance comes in handy. when you go to your local DMV to get trailer plates you will be ask insurance company and policy # just put your car insurance carrier and your current policy # . to avoid any risk, you shall insurance your boat and trailer,. Yamaha VMAX outboards
17ft. Ski Boat started a month ago and today it didn't start. Did nothing different.
Rienell 94 17 ft inboard outboard motor. New battery about a month ago and it started right up. Parked in driveway. Tried to start it today and it would not start. It would not turnover and it didn't make any clicking noise. Had the battery recharged. Still will not turn on. Please help. ASAP
Check your cable connections make sure they are clean and tight. Diet coke works great to clean the terminals.
Starter could be going bad. Give it a gentle rap with a hammer to see if it will cut lose.
