Very Option Loaded
does avira have an option where it does not load on startup?
I want to speed up my laptop's startup time. I can not find an option where i can tell the program not to load on startup. I just want to load it manually. Is there a way?
This would be very dangerous, the machine is very prone to total drive erasure until it completes startup, if the virus protection is off and something is waiting for a chance to delete files on boot, you could end up with a trashed machine.

First, I would suspect the IE7 is the culprit. If you have used this OK before, then FINE… but I'd go back to IE6.
Then I would suspect Spyware. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
Also, minimize the number of programs running. Type MSCONFIG from RUN to turn off some of the unneeded startup programs.
If you have 512MB of RAM, you should be OK. But if you don't, get MORE. Visit to see what your system came with and how much it will take… Then BUY MORE. Coast Memory guarantees that it will WORK, so go with confidence. I have worked returns with them, and they are fantastic.
