Wake boarding with a Diesel Boat? What kind?
We've been using a 2007 Glastron GT 185 speedboat with a 3 litre Volvo Penta engine for 2 years now, and compared to other boats it just doesn't seem it to cut it, we only get an average wake - even with weights in the boat, struggles to hold around 21mph, and worst of all, drinks petrol like nothing I've seen before.
The boat is probably worth about €17,000 - €18000. And we're trying to sell at the minute. But what are the options we've got for buying a diesel boat?
I know it's going to be more money, but a 3 - 5 year old diesel speed boat that's good for wake boarding and isn't hard on the pocket. I don't really care about speed, not going to be going over 30mph anyway.
Any ideas? We're based in Ireland so as much as I like to hear suggestions of American boat companies, we can't travel that far.
I've never heard of a diesel wakeboard boat. I do believe also that any boat is going to be a petrol guzzler. I would suggest looking into Supra or Moomba. I looked and there is a dealer in ireland, so you could probably find a used one for a decent price. I have a Moomba (mobius xlv to be exact) and it is the best boat i've ever ridden behind for wakeboarding. (and i've ridden behind malibu's, mastercraft, air nautiques, etc.)
