What is your overall all opinion of imperial palace in vegas?
Ok i am thinking of staying here with location on the strip is nice. But is it worth staying at ? is there anything fun there too see? is excalibur a better bet? i wanna a stay on the strip but not pay a arm and leg too do it or stay in a dive.
When Harrah's bought Imperial Palace they put out a press release that said they intended to implode the place. However, they put some money into the rooms, and put their plans on hold. It is much better now, but I'll bet the Capri rooms (cheapest rooms) are still pretty awful. Some of the bad comments you hear are a little dated.

Rooms are so inexpensive right now that it may be worth a few dollars to stay in someplace nicer. After all you can lose $10 on a hand in blackjack, why not spend $10 and get a better room. If you bring drinking water and your own booze, it can mean more to your bottom line than the cost of the room.

All in all, I would stay at IP over Excalibur, just for the location. It's a short walk from Excalibur to the nice casinos like Venetian, Palazzo, Ceasars Palace, and the Wynn. The IP is near the nicer shopping at Forum shops and at the Venetian.

There are 25 Casinos on the strip area that must earn $6 million a month (in gaming revenue alone) to get in the club according to the Nevada Gaming Commission. They average $20m a month & peak out at over $50m. These 25 casinos earn half the gaming revenue in Nevada (out of 338 unrestricted licenses in the state). Out of this group, IP usually has the cheapest rooms.
