Is it necessary to have a Marine Survey done on a boat only 2 yrs. old with very low hours?
I am thinking of buying a used boat (2007) with very little hours of use (36 hrs.) and was wondering if a survey is necessary. It costs around $700 for both hull and motor and while it is peace of mind. . .quite expensive. Anyone else have any thoughts or experience with regards to a marine survey?
i would go for the survey. a good survey will show things even experienced boaters wont find, such as moisture content in the hull and weather the boat has ever had any damage that was covered up. also a surveyer will let you know if your paying a reasonable price for the boat. having an up to date survey will also help when you put insurance on the boat.

check kijiji, also brand new is usually $300 per horse so $1300 isn't bad
