How can i make a better wake for wakeboarding?
We are riding a 4.3L mariah diablo with a tower on it and can get decent air, but its reallyhard to get a crisp wake. We are constantly playing with the throttle.. Playing with the weight and speeds have helped a little, but we still get white wash. another question: one of my friends pulls a tube right behind the boat and says that makes his wake crisp, how come?
When you saying playing with the weight, i'm wondering if that means you have an after market ballast system? Or just moving friends around in the boat? Regardless of your ballast, it's a common misconception that all the weight in the back makes the wake bigger, and it will certainly cause a wake to wash out. Make sure you have weight in the bow, or perhaps a ballast bag in the ski locker. You want the entire boat to ride lower, not just drive the stern down. The mariah diablo is an i/o i think, so you can also try playing with the trim a bit (if i'm wrong about the i/o, ignore that.) Every boat has it's own sweet spot, and i've personally seen a smoother wake behind a boat of mine when the trim was slightly off good cruising position.
Shorten the rope a bit if you like. Most wakeboard ropes come about 75 feet long. Wrap up 10 feet or so and try it at 65. That could help. Makes a wake to wake a little easier too.
