Should I buy a timeshare in hawaii?
I want to be able to go there atleast once a year, maybe twice! I just don't understand timeshares. Do you finance it? Own it for life? How many days can you use it and who chooses when? Please help?
BUYING A TIMESHARE
Time-sharing can be an affordable way to own a vacation home. Before you buy, you should be able to answer YES to all these questions:
* Are you POSITIVE you want to spend ALL your vacations there?
*Have you visited the facility? Are you satisfied with its quality, with the stability of the management, and with the terms of the contract? Have you checked out this time-share development with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office or your Legal Assistance Office?
*Have you talked to some long-time owners in this time-share facility?
*Can you afford both the facility and the round trip travel costs each year?
DO NOT BUY IF:
* You want to rent out the facility.
* You plan on reselling it.
* You plan on exchanging vacation sites frequently.
BUYING TIPS
BEWARE OF ANY PROMOTIONS THAT:
* Will not physically take you to the facility. (Some promoters claim the place is built when it is really only a hole in the ground.)
* Offer you a special price "for that day only."
* Subject you to a long and harrassing sales pitch.
* Will not let you take the contract home to study.
DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT ON THE SAME DAY AS THE SALES PITCH.
If the price is fair, it will still be in effect the next day. Many people readily admit they became much smarter the day after they signed a time-share contract.
Timeshare at its core is essentially a group of people sharing the cost of a vacation home.
The word "timeshare" has grown over the decades to include a wide variety of vacation products and plans. Also known as "vacation ownership" "holiday ownership" and "interval ownership" , its umbrella covers traditional deeded timeshare ownership, fractional ownership, private residence clubs, points clubs, and more. Some would even broaden the term further to include campground memberships and the " condo hotel" concept, in which a condo is purchased outright but the owner is only allowed to use it for a specific periods of time and it is rented by a hotel management company for the remainder of the time.
Regardless of how loosely or rigidly you choose to define the term, the basic premise of timeshare is simple. You and a group of other people share the purchase cost of a vacation accommodation, in increments of one week (or more) per year of use, thus guaranteeing your ability to use that accommodation during the period of time you choose, either for life or for a specified number of years. Accommodations range from hotel rooms to condos, from cabins to luxury houses and castles, from yachts and cruise ships to RVs and houseboats.Owning timeshare in the traditional sense means a condominium/villa/house/hotel unit, etc. is subdivided into 52 separate units of time (52 weeks in 1 year), and usually sold to a maximum of 51 owners (leaving one week each year closed down for annual renovations and/or maintenance). Each owner would own 1/51 of the unit. Each share repesents one week of vacation. Each owner is entitled to ownership rights and privileges of the shares that they purchased.
This system makes vacation home ownership possible for many people who cannot afford a second home or who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such resort facilities. It is important to remember that purchasing timeshare should never be viewed as a financial investment with the expectation of gaining a profit in either reselling it or renting it to someone else. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays, in family time together, and when viewed that way it can be a good investment indeed.

In the event the car was not his (which means it was stolen), it will have to be surrendered to the police immediately. You would then have to sue him for the amount lost if you can locate him.
When you had it inspected, he would have had to show a registration card for the inspection to be passed, correct? Assuming he didn't steal the car with that in it, if it was his that means he had the title at some point to get that.
Personally, I would contact the police and see if that VIN has been reported stolen. If it has, you would just have to turn it in anyway, and if not, there's a decent chance its legit.

You forgot one approach that I would actually list as #1 in order of priority – it is a Cost Per Deal advertising model which stands out separately from traditional advertising.
