Aluminum boat capacities?
I'm thinking of getting a Lowe's 12' aluminum boat. The specs say that it has a 602 lb max weight capacity. It says it can handle 3 people. Then it says it has a max people capacity of 400lbs. Why the 200lb difference? Do they assume that I'll be carrying 200lbs of gear? My friend and I weigh a combined 450lbs. My electric trolling motor and battery weigh another 75lbs. All my other gear weighs less than 25lbs. That still leaves me 50lbs under the max weight. That should be fine shouldn't it?
Yes, they are assuming you boat will have 200 lbs of added gear.
Capacity plates give maximum weight and people capacity - In a small boat you don't want to go by the "maximum people" capacity - as most of them still use the original pre-MDF capacity figures. That is pre-McDonald's Burger & Fries) formula when the average American adult weighed 150 lbs or less.
However, by law, the max weight capacity number should be the maximum "safe" load the boat can carry while floating at it's intended water-line.
In addition to your motor, most people forget is that a battery can = 50lbs, (and if your only using a trolling motor - I'd for sure have two batteries... 3 gallon fuel tank w /fuel = 30 lbs, a small ice chest filled with ice and beverage can = 30 lbs, and personal gear and clothing, PFD, can easily weigh another 30 lbs. per person, and so on...
So as stated, you should be safe, however, two of us big guys messing around and fishing in a small (especially narrow beam) aluminum boat where we often have to stand - and reach down over the sides can easily become a delicate maneuver even for a ballerina.
I think you will be much more comfortable with a 14' and the widest beam you can get. I know I like to stretch out, lean back, and stand up now and then...

one thing nice about tilapia is… you cant really cook it wrong. I however buy it from Walmart bulk and they are individually frozen in vacuum sealed bags. But you have to ask for it left in the back and the lady behind the counter will go back in the freezer and get it for you. Otherwise they cut them out of their individual packed bags.
However, I microwave cook it in its bag and it turns out perfect then I add seasonings.
Now wrapping it with your veggies will be fine.

One wonders if temporary repairs means “duct tape”. Seems odd that Rachel Marie would need hull repairs so soon after the last ones. I seem to recall that the corrosion of aluminum boat hulls in salt water means these boats are nearing the end of their service life…
As a fisherman who often uses a nine foot aluminum boat this video scared the BeJesus out of me. Mother nature you scary. So much incredible raw power.
