Kicker subs and Car audio help?
OK bassically, im confused with all thes numbers and wires!! I have just recently purchased these subs http://www.kicker.com/compvr_subboxes, the 12 inch CVR ones. And im currently running them off a option audio 800watt mono block amp. I seem to be confused of how to wire this up. I already had a 2 channel amp with all the wires and such installed, so im right that way, just of what do i need to hook up where with these subs? should it be running at 2ohms? can anyone explain to me what that means?? After i get my head all around that, i want to run my old 2 channel amp on my rear 6x9's. How do i also do that??? Thanks for your help. Im only new at this car audio thing, and im enjoying it, just need some more education, i cant find any websites that actually helps me. So if someone could explain how it works to me, that would be awesome.
What it's running at depends specifically on what box you have. There is the dcvr122 (2 ohms) or the dcvr124 (4 ohms).
Amps are designed to produce a given amount of power into a given load. For a 2 channel amp they will usually operate at no lower than 2 ohms on each channel, or 4 ohms when bridged.
Mono amps typically run at either 1 ohm or 2 ohms minimum.
Your OAX801 (I'm guessing) runs optimally at 1 ohm where it produces 800w rms.
However, the Kicker box isn't available as 1 ohm.
In most cases the impedance of the subwoofers can be adjusted by purchasing subs with the correct voice coil impedance values and by wiring them in series, parallel, or a combination of the two to match up with the amp, but since you have a loaded box that has already been done for you.
If you have the 2 ohm box that amp is supposed to produce 500w -- 250w per sub. Less than ideal, but should work pretty well.
If you have the 4 ohm box the amp only produces 300w rms, 150w per sub, which is less than half their rated power and will leave a lot of their capability unused.
If you're handy with a screwdriver you can remove the subs from the box and rewire the subs for 1 ohm. If you want to try that I'm sure someone answering can help you out.
To add the 2nd amp you will need to get another power wire from your battery to where the amp will be located. You can either run another seperate wire or get a dual amp wiring kit which will give you one large wire to run that will be divided by a distribution block and both amps will be powered from there with smaller wire.
Then of course you have to ground them well, get signal (rca's?) to them and a remote turn on wire.

No Audio On Computer Since XP PRO install?
Since I installed XP pro on my computer(AMD Athalon XP 2400 +) I have had no sound, its a new old computer therefore I reformatted the hard drive to deal with the problems that was on the original hard drive. Since doing so Ive had no sound, I only realized it since I installed winamp and got a directsound error. The kicker to the whole thing is that contol panel says everything is working fine. Ive looked for the drivers for the soundcard I have(via ac'97 enhanced audio controller) and I cannot figure out how to attach the driver to he soundcard.
Or is that even my problem?
Go to Http://www.driverguide.com , sign up, and you should be able to find the driver to your sound card, but first you have to look on the inside to see what brand and other info, write it down and search for it on that website.

don't you already have everything set up?
do you just need to adjust the equalizer to get the sound you're looking for?
or have you not hooked everything up yet?
if you haven't hooked it all up yet, then do so. shouldn't be too hard. you'll have to hook up 6 speakers to your 4 channel amp. which means 2 sets of those speakers are only going to be running on 37.5 watts (which ever 2 sets you decide to wire together on the amp) and one pair will be running on 60 watts.
your system should sound decent, but I would've chose different amps.
the sub amp only puts out 1200 watts. split 4 ways thats only 300 watts per woofer. and each of them can handle around 750 watts I think. but with 4 woofers you shouldn't be lacking in bass much.
the 4 channel amp, i would try to find one that doubles output from 4 ohms to 2 ohms. for example if it puts out 50 watts at 4 ohms, then it'll do 100 watts at 2 ohms. That way even if you have 2 speakers hooked up to a channel, all the speakers will have 50 watts of power.
