My family is going to buy a new wave runner, what one would be the best for us?
We are going to buy a new wave runner for the summer of 2010.. I would be using it mostly ( im 14) on the lake we live on. I would be picking up friends on their pier, cruising around, and possibly towing a tuber. My parents might go on it to take a slow ride, but thats it.
We have it narrowed down to:
Sea-Doo GTI 130
Yamaha 3X (2008)
Kawasaki Jet Ski STX
Sea Doo GTI 130 is the best in my opinion.

is it normal for my kawasaki stx to blow white smoke through the exhaust?
I recently bought a pair of kawasaki stx 1100 jet skis, they run pertty good but the blow a bit of white smoke through the exhaust. iam a first time owner of the jet skis so i do not know much about these toys.
2-stroke engines smoke because oil is mixed in the gasoline. hard to describe how much is too much. they smoke more when the engine is cold than after warmed up, more at low RPM than hi RPM, more on cool days than hot days, and humidity and barometric pressure play a role too, but I can't define 'em, just don't be alarmed if the amount of smoke varies from day to day and time to time and place to place.
make sure you have the right mixture, or if they have oil pumps that do the mixing from an oil reservoir, be advised that if the fuel line sucks air, the oil pump adds more oil into the mix, making it smokier.
make sure you use the oil recommended by the manufacturer, some personal watercraft engines run at higher combustion temps than other marine engines therefore need different oil, I don't know about kawasaki's.
please please read & understand the USCG "Inland Rules of the Road" as they apply to PWC, it won't take long, and I really would hate to read about another drowning.
