Towing xr1800 Yamaha Jetboat behind houseboat?
we are planning on towing a 2000 xr1800 yamaha jetboat behind our house boat for 3 days but we cannot leave the pumps on or it will drain the battery, what can we do to prevent water from entering the engine, we will not be moving faster than 7-8 mph, thanks. Ive heard something about clamping cooling lines and ive heard something about clamping water intake lines, but i am not even remotely sure about that
7 to 8 mph is fast enough, or slow enough to cause water ingestion to the engine if being towed.
buy yourself a set of proper plastic hose clamps, they have blunt edges and will not damage the hose.
Trace the water cooling inlet hose from the jet unit to the engine and place a clamp where it is easy to access.
If you want to make sure the hose is clamped correctly, with the clamp on the hose, disconnect the water feed hose at the engine.
Have some body sit on the ski for a few minutes while you are towing it and make sure no water is getting past the clamp.
re-connect the hose.
