javelin fishing boat
My boat will go into gear, but when I give it gas it barely goea any faster than if i was idle. Any Advice?
It's a 1988 16ft Javelin Fish n Ski, 90 hp V4 Evenrude. I've bought the boat a few months ago, It had been stored in a barn for several years. I had it out 2 or 3 times, ran ok, but wanted to have it checked out. I took it to shop for an inspection/tune up, Then went out 2 more times, a few hours each time with no problems. Last Monday, I took it out, it cranked up beautifully, ran great for 30 min, I stopped to fish a cove, went to leave cove and put it in gear (foward) and couldn't get it any faster than just above idle speed. Also, when this happened, I think it started idleing higher when in neutral. It's a 1988 16ft Javelin Fish n Ski, 90 hp V4 Evenrude. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
It sure sounds like your throttle cable is either broken or disconnected. Check that out.

Hi Andy,
We had some epic adventures removing the sheep from Rona. The first time we did it in a couple of small boats, my 17' dory and a 13' wooden clinker. I can't remember how many we got off but it was interesting bringing them back with their legs tied! Another trip involved the 'Ocean Unity' a 36' steel fishing boat upon which we made a pen up on the stern. We caught most of the sheep by driving them into the sea then hauling them on board a small fiberglass dinghy before lifting them onto the deck of the fishing boat. The sheep were wild with about 5 fleeces on them as they'd not been sheared in years. All I remember is they were very heavy, I got soaked and all the sheep dogs got seasick on the way home!
Foil will tend to hold moisture better than paper, but it also will cook your product faster.
