inflatable pontoon fishing boat
Kayak or Inflatable Pontoon boat for fishing?
I am going to buy one this summer and I am not sure if I should get a Kayak or an Inflatable Pontoon boat. Can someone help me out here.
& no the Kayak is not inflatable nor is it a stand on kayak.

I've used both there are pluses and minuses to each:
Yaks are faster, can cover more water. Pontoon boats are designed for rivers and streams, but have utility in small impoundment.
You can hike in with a Pontoon boat, you can only "drag in with a yak" (actually there are wheels you can use).
Yaks need more "Stuff" to port them to the water. Roof Racks, specialized boat holders etc. (Yak Racks are great btw). Pontoon boats usually have a pack bag, but many people just throw them in the back of a pickup truck (already assembled) or trailer.
casting position is marginally higher in a pontoon boat. More important to flycasters than other casting styles but not "that" much.
You have to consider what type of yak, "sit on top" vs. "sit inside" most fishing yaks are the sit on top variety...there are some that aren't but not many. Besides sot are more stable and better suited for angling.
Yaks are more versatile. Pond, Lake, River, Bay, Ocean can all be covered with yaks well because they are more mobile. Pontoon boats COULD fish all those, but aren't really the best choice for covering alot of water...they just aren't that fast..now if you were fishing a slow moving stream or river? Pontoon boats are you choice.
Yaks are impervious to hooks, and sunlight, the pointy things on most fish (although I suspect a billfish could ruin your day) Pontoon boats, not so much.
Storage: Yaks have by their size and construction special storage needs. Most pontoon boats you can store in a corner once you break them down.
Fishability..depends on the kind of fishing you want to do. Both are optimized for the task.
