used inboard ski boats
What's better a inboard motor or a inboard outboard motor?
I'm buying a new boat and i currently have a inboard outboard motor. I've been looking at inboard motors and i don't know what the advantages are to having one. I mainly use my boat for skiing and wakeboarding. Thank you for any answers
Both are good boats for the sport. But, the "Tourney" boats ALL are inboards. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I own a boat with an I/O and a friend has a full Tourney boat. I can do everything that the other boat does and NOT need to have the water bladders to sink the back-end of the boat to create the perfect wake. I turn faster than the other boat and maneuver better than the other boat. The cost of the boat was $20k less too.
The inboard boat is better balanced and accelerates faster than me, and has a higher overall top speed than me. The two boats use about the same amount of fuel. The turns are slower due to the special Skeg amidship to keep the boat from being "Pulled" off center from the boarder sweeping to the outsides and back. Maintenance is pretty much the same cost. There's a better safety factor with an inboard. Since the prop is under the boat, it's not as likely to injure a person in the water. I ALWAYS, kill my engine as I pull up on a skier/wake boarder with my boat. The inboard owner usually doesn't, but is advisable to do so.
Really no real big difference between the two. If this is just for fun and not for being in the "Money", I'd go with being more affordable.
BTW, there's property tax on boats. I pay $200 LESS per year than my buddy! My insurance cost is also less than his because his is a performance boat.
