houseboats sale
cheapest way/place to get a house(sail)boat?
not the best with internet searches. any thoughts/suggestions?
The bigger and better the boat you are looking for - the more you have to work to find it. If you are looking for a houseboat or live a-board size sailboat - the very best deals almost always take place at the Marinas.
My boat is my home, and I have been a full-time cruising live a-board for almost 20 years. And having spend at least 2 days a week at various Marinas around the US Intercoastal and Inland Rivers, for sure, for ever single boat that hits the Internet for sale, or the local Penny Savers, Newspapers, etc... you can bet your last dime - that at least 10 better deals were made (bought and sold) at the Marina.
When boaters think of selling, or when they get in financial trouble and have to sell. . . everyone at the Marina is the first to know. That's a fact!
Additionally, over the last 2 or 3 years (since Obama has been in office) live a-board size boats have hit an all time rock bottom on prices - especially the "fuel guzzlers".
So, I know it takes a lot of leg work, and a lot of time. . . but your very best bet for the very best deal is going to be personally making a visit to all the Marinas you can get to. And just so you know. . . the last boat search I was on took my son and I (by car) from Galveston to the Great Lakes, and down the Atlantic, where we finally found what we wanted in St. Augustine.
The good news is the harder you work at your search, the bigger bucks you will save - and so far - Obama has figured out how to tax us on the money we save. lol
