Martin Stephens (12)~"Village of the Damned"~~At 13, he was brilliant in "The Innocents"! I simply have to note that performance, which is so full of maturity.

Natasha Ryan (6 and 7)~"Sybil" (TV miniseries) and Mary Jane Harper Cried Last Night (TV movie~title role)~~She also delivered great performances in "The Entity", "Kingdom of the Spiders", "The Day Time Ended", etc.
Harvey Stephens (6)~"The Omen" (original)~~There must have been a lot more to this than one would suppose because the boy in the remake is nowhere near as convincing as this child is as Damien Thorn. With minimal lines, he's a striking presence throughout.

Charles Herbert (10 and 12 in the fourth movie)~"Houseboat", "The Fly", "The Colossus of New York" and "13 Ghosts"~~He always delivered good performances, generally cast as a thoughtful or even troubled child.
It should be noted that Shirley Temple certainly was an amazing actress! I watched several of her films recently and was impressed all over again by how wonderfully she delivers lines, performs songs and dances. She doesn't simply recite, as far too many child actors do; she delivers performances! True, many films are written to focus on her, but she never failed to deliver remarkable performances: "Bright Eyes" at 6, "The Little Colonel" at 7, "Captain January" at 8, "Wee Willie Winkie" and "Heidi" at 9, etc.
I wasn't sure what the cutoff age is for them; I hope none are too old. It should be noted that Patty Duke was 16 when she portrayed Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker". Also, Judy Garland was a teenager when she starred in "The Wizard of Oz". If the age was stretched, I would have added Roddy McDowall, Elizabeth Taylor, Michel Rey, Billy and Bobby Mauch, and many others who delivered amazing performances; but, I set my cutoff age at 12 except for one performance. If they were in their teens, I didn't count them as child actors/actresses.
