Hours sport Tower
Suggestion to spend few hours in Boston?
I will be in providence this fall. I figure there will not be much to see there and have few hours to kill, does it make sense to visit boston. Are there any quickies to do there, must see spots. Just not too physically taxing, and I am into views nature food lighting landscapes but not into history museums dancing pubs etc.
Suggestions welcome
Wow~~~ a really short trip!! Since you only stay in Boston for a few hours, the following items may be suitable for you.
===OPTION 1
Freedom Trail. This tour only takes a few hour and it takes visitors to visit many wonderful sites in the city. This is a walk through many of Boston's historic high points Old North Church, Paul Revere House, Faniuel Hall, various cemeteries, etc). The National Park Service offers free tours (http://www.nps.gov/bost/) which are great! If you have time, there is an "Insider's Tour" of Old North Church where you get to go into the bell tower or down into the crypt.
===OPTION 2
Spend time walking around Boston Common/Beacon Hill/Back Bay. It's charming and old world. you can also take a Duck Tour, it offers an hour tour around Boston, and then a short cruise in the Charles River in a converted WWII amphibian landing craft. Harvard Square is an interesting place to visit, great people watching.
===OPTION 3
The Aquarium is world class, and the Science Museum often had great exhibits (one right now on frogs). If you're a sports fan, go to Fenway Park - either pick up tickets if you can, or just take a tour. You will accomplish it in a few hours.
===Restaurant suggestions: Obviously fish places. Otherwise, most Bostonians (like the Answerer above) would likely recommend Italian restaurants in the North End - Boston's Little Italy. But I will recommend that you eat Portuguese. Southeastern New England has the largest concentration of Portuguese speakers and Portuguese-speaking heritage people in the USA and the food is great. Most of the purely Portuguese restaurants are located in East Cambridge - our favorite is the Sunset Cafe. You may also get some advice from http://www.bostonhotelsinfo.com/travel
