Types of fast powerboats?
What are the fastest type(s) of ocean-going speed boats? I can't seem to get a clear answer. I'm not looking at a yacht per-se but more of like something that you can just take out and go full throttle in, maybe hit some big waves and go airborne in too. I know these boats exist (one I saw had like 3,000 hp) but do they have any specific type names to them?

I believe you are referring to Cigarette type boats.They have other slang names too like "Go-fasts".The 3 manufactures I can think of are "Cigarette","Donzi" and "Fountain".The 3,000 hp boats you refer to are offshore racing boats with highly trained crews.It may sound fun but its also serious business.Some of these boats run in the 80-150 mph range.I've seen 80mph on the water and do not want to experience it again.
(note) Going airborne in ANY boat is not recommended as you lose control of the boat and very bad things can happen upon landing.If you get one PLEASE be careful and mindful of other boaters.By law,you also may need to pass a boating safety course.
